Hi Gedas, Your reply below initially led to some head scratching, then to some online sleuthing which revealed that BOTH Radio Romania and Radio Algeria broadcast on 153 kHz, with Algeria also broadcasting on 252 kHz which I think may be its main LW service (my speculation). Since June 2022 I've logged Algeria/252 during 13 different monthly "DX Downstairs-defined" cycles, whereas I've only logged Romania/153 twice during the same period (now 3x with last night's logging). So, the question now--hard to imagine how I never realized this before--is what have I been hearing when I (rarely) log voices and music on 153 kHz??? Algeria/252 seems easy, since the language is often French which makes sense. But at least for last night on 153 kHz, the language was not identifiable to me. With no linguistic credentials beyond very rudimentary French, Spanish, German and and a little Japanese, both female and male voices last night on 153 kHz to me sounded eastern European, and the music style seemed to match. So my friend Gedas you have opened a can of worms for me ;-) and I would appreciate any further insights from your end as to what, exactly, we are hearing on 153 kHz. Considering how infrequently I log voices/music on 153 kHz (even though I almost always hear a weak carrier), I tend to think I'm hearing Romania on 153 kHz, but that's just my speculation--wishful or otherwise. Would love to hear your further thoughts. 73, Bruce WA1HGJ P.S. Sorry I did not think to make an audio recording. Will try to remember next time.
